Thousands march worldwide in solidarity with Palestine, Iran on al-Quds Day | US-Israel war on Iran News

Global Protests Mark Annual Al-Quds Day Amid Escalating Conflict

Tens of thousands of individuals worldwide gathered Friday to observe al-Quds Day, an annual event that expresses solidarity with Palestine and opposition to Israeli occupation, held on the final Friday of Ramadan.

Rallies occurred across several countries, including Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kashmir, and Yemen. In Tehran, demonstrators marched in large numbers, chanting slogans such as “Death to Israel” and “Death to America,” as the U.S.-Israeli military campaign entered its 14th day.

Al-Quds Day has deep roots in Iran, introduced by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the country’s first supreme leader, in 1979. This year’s observance coincided with ongoing military actions against Iran, leading to significant casualties, including the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and at least 1,444 others reported killed.

Despite the ongoing conflict and U.S. and Israeli strikes in the region, crowds gathered in Tehran and other Iranian cities, according to state media.

Demonstrators worldwide also extended their solidarity to Palestinians and Iranians. In Kashmir, protesters symbolically burned mock coffins adorned with images of U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, voicing their discontent with the U.S. and Israeli governments.

In a notable departure from tradition, authorities in the United Kingdom banned the annual al-Quds Day march in London for the first time in 40 years, citing concerns over public disorder linked to the volatile situation in the Middle East and the likelihood of confrontations between opposing groups. This action represents the first protest ban since 2012, which prohibited marches organized by the far-right English Defence League.

The Iranian Health Ministry reported additional casualties, stating that at least 18,551 individuals have been injured due to U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28.
