Three Arrested in Killing of NSCDC Officer in Jigawa State
JIGAWA, Nigeria — Authorities have arrested three suspects linked to the killing of a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer in Jigawa State.
The arrests occurred Monday in the Kiyawa Local Government Area, following a detailed investigation into the death of SC Bashir Adamu Jibril. Initial reports indicate that Jibril was attacked while performing his duties near Shuwarin Market, where he was engaged in apprehending a suspect. During the incident, accomplices allegedly assaulted him with sticks and other weapons, causing critical injuries.
Following the attack, security operatives conducted a search that led to the detention of the three suspects, who are currently being held in custody and are cooperating with law enforcement.
The NSCDC condemned the killing, characterizing it as a direct attack on one of its officers fulfilling his responsibilities. The agency has confirmed that those involved in the incident will face prosecution.
