Ekiti State Command of Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps has arrested a 19-year-old man, Samuel at Oye Ekiti, Oye Local Government area headquarters, over alleged phone snatching.
The Head of Communications, Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Abiodun Adeleye, disclosed this in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Monday, December 30, 2024.
According to Adeleye, the suspect named two alleged accomplices, Garuba and Tosin, who were consequently nabbed by Amotekun operatives in the community.
“The arresting Amotekun officers at Oye Ekiti stated that the suspect, Samuel, confessed his involvement in such stealing act upon interrogation. He alleged that he was involved in phone snatching and connived with a syndicate, 20 years old Sanusi Garuba, 20 years old. He further mentioned another co-suspect, Tosin, who he said lured him into theft to have become an expert at phone snatching,” Adeleye said.
“The principal suspect and the two others have been handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Oye Ekiti for necessary action and further interrogation.”
The spokesperson reiterated the agency led by its Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa’s commitment, to flush out criminals and their activities in the state.
