President Tinubu Renews Appointment of NIPSS Director-General
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of Professor Ayo Omotayo’s appointment as the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State. This renewal grants Omotayo a final four-year term.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement from the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga. The statement emphasized the administration’s confidence in Omotayo’s leadership and his contributions to strategic policy formulation and national development.
Omotayo first assumed the position in November 2021, following an appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His nomination was confirmed by the Senate in February 2022.
A professor of Environmental Sustainability, Omotayo earned his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Ibadan, where he studied from 1980 to 1990. He initiated his academic career at Lagos State University in 1985, progressing rapidly to Senior Lecturer by 1992 at the age of 30. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 2012 to 2017 and was the Director of the Centre for Planning prior to his current position.
NIPSS is recognized as Nigeria’s premier policy think tank, focusing on training senior public officials and promoting informed discussions on national policy and strategic governance.
