Troops Neutralize Three Armed Bandits in Katsina State
KATSINA, Nigeria — Troops conducting Operation Fansan Yanma successfully neutralized three armed bandits during a gun battle in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, according to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
The confrontation occurred on March 4 at approximately 4:14 p.m. when the bandits attacked 34-year-old farmer Alaramma Lawal Musa from Barkinshi village while he was en route to his farm on the outskirts of the community. Makama reported that the farmer attempted to resist the assailants, managing to stab one with a knife before sustaining serious injuries from machete cuts.
Troops stationed at Super Camp Machika were alerted to the situation and quickly mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, they intercepted the fleeing assailants, engaging them in a fire fight. During the exchange, three suspected bandits were neutralized, while others fled into nearby bushes. Authorities recovered a Honda motorcycle believed to have been used by the bandits.
The injured farmer was transported to Comprehensive Hospital in Dandume for medical care and is reported to be responding to treatment.
In light of the incident, security forces have intensified patrols and surveillance in the region to locate other members of the gang. Operation Fansan Yanma continues its military offensive against banditry and related criminal activities in the North-West region.
