Troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralise scores of terrorists in Borno

Nigerian Troops Neutralize Insurgents in Borno State Midnight Assaults

Borno State—In a coordinated operation, Nigerian troops engaged in Operation Hadin Kai successfully thwarted multiple attacks by insurgents aimed at four military installations late Thursday into Friday.

The assaults, which unfolded over five hours, targeted the communities of Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok. According to a statement from Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force in North-East Nigeria, the first wave of attacks began around 10 p.m. on Thursday and intensified until approximately 3 a.m. on Friday.

Uba noted that the insurgents launched their attacks with the intent to overrun troop positions but encountered intensive resistance from well-prepared soldiers. “Troops executed simultaneous flanking maneuvers and called in reinforcements from Sectors 1 and 2, effectively routing the attackers and forcing them into disorganized retreats,” Uba stated.

In some instances, sections of the defensive perimeter were breached temporarily. However, the troops quickly launched counterattacks to reclaim control over their positions. Uba reported that during the fierce exchanges, several insurgent leaders, including top Amirs, were neutralized, alongside many other fighters.

Despite damage to some facilities during the conflict, Uba confirmed that all military bases remained secure under the control of Operation Hadin Kai forces. Additionally, air support conducted precision strikes against fleeing insurgents, further diminishing their numbers and combat capabilities.

Ground troops are currently engaged in follow-up operations across the affected areas, focusing on recovering bodies, weapons, and other combat materials. Uba acknowledged the loss of several soldiers during the confrontations, including a commanding officer who demonstrated exceptional bravery in leading his men.

He emphasized that the sacrifices made by these soldiers reflect the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to safeguard the nation and protect its citizens.
