Troops Repel ISWAP Assault in Borno State

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents in Bita, Borno State, following an intense overnight confrontation.

The assault began at approximately 1:09 a.m. on Saturday, when the insurgents launched a coordinated attack on the 26 Task Force Brigade stationed in the area, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. Despite their efforts to overwhelm the troops, the attackers faced strong resistance, resulting in a protracted gun battle.

A security source reported that in a well-coordinated operation, the troops carried out simultaneous land and air strikes against the insurgent positions in Bita. This combined offensive effectively forced the attackers to retreat.

After the insurgents withdrew, the troops initiated exploitation operations to pursue those fleeing, aiming to prevent them from regrouping.
