Nigerian Army Rescues Eight Abducted at Wedding in Kano State

Troops from the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued eight of the ten individuals kidnapped by suspected terrorists during a wedding in Dabawa, located in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

A source at the Army Headquarters confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that an unverified number of armed assailants, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, infiltrated the wedding ceremony and abducted the victims.

Upon receiving an alert, troops stationed along the Yankwada River line moved swiftly to the vicinity. They engaged the fleeing attackers near Garu village in neighboring Katsina State.

The troops pursued the assailants along the Katsina–Gidan Mutum Daya road before losing contact. The source reported that during the operation, eight of the abducted individuals were rescued and have been reunited with their families. Efforts continue to locate and retrieve the remaining two victims.

The source emphasized that operations in the area are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the remaining hostages and to deter further attacks.
