Two nabbed in Adamawa over alleged abduction of child

Two Arrested in Adamawa Child Abduction Case

Authorities in Adamawa State have arrested two individuals in connection with the abduction of a four-year-old boy who was reported missing earlier this month.

The Adamawa State Police Command apprehended the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Sadiq Ali and 23-year-old Shitu Umar, both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area. Their arrest follows an investigation triggered by a complaint lodged on March 2, 2026, by Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang in Numan Local Government Area.

Ibrahim reported that his son, Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1 but did not return home. After initial unsuccessful search efforts by family and community members, Ibrahim received a phone call days later from an unknown number, indicating that his son had been kidnapped. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.

Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the investigation by operatives from the Numan Division led to the suspects’ arrests, during which they allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. The case has since been referred to the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Nguroje emphasized the commitment of the police to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
