Nigerian sensational singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has opened up about the Oscars outfit on Sunday.

According to her two years ago, she would not have opted for that kind of dress, but it’s her first Oscars and she wanted to go all out.

Naija News reported on Monday that Tems, literally stole the show for some guests behind her, at the 2023 Oscars Academy awards that were held on Sunday.

It was gathered that the singer who was nominated for Best Original Song for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” track “Lift Me Up” wore a puffy white dress that wrapped around the back of her head.

While the “Crazy Tings” hitmaker stunned guests on the red carpet, the incredible outfit was probably less loved by those sitting inside the Dolby Theater as the elaborate outfit blocked the view of fellow attendees.

However, the singer has come out to give her reason for wearing the white sculptural gown by Ukrainian brand, Lever Couture’s AW22, Leleka Couture collection.

“But it’s my first Oscars — I am going to go all out. I really wanted to make the most of the day. The dress is also my way of celebrating my work and the people around me, celebrating my country, and celebrating the people that are rooting for me. This dress says ‘Yes, yes, I am here!’”

Also speaking about her recent international achievements, Tems during the interview submitted that she believes her collaboration with musical giants like Beyonce and Rihanna were indications she was on the “right path.”

The singer who said it was just the begging of more international achievement stated that “If the biggest women in the world love my work to such an extent that they are working with me, then that must say something. My work is actually reaching places, it’s making some type of impact.
