Chelsea’s Tyrique George Eligible to Represent Nigeria and Ghana

Everton’s new loan signing, Tyrique George, has confirmed his eligibility to represent both Nigeria and Ghana at the international level, reflecting on his heritage while discussing his budding football career. The 19-year-old attacker shared insights during an introduction on Everton’s official media platform.

George, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in January, stated, “I’m Tyrique George and these are five things about me. I was born in Camden, London, and my mom is Ghanaian, and my dad is Nigerian.” His heritage allows him to potentially play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Ghana’s Black Stars, or England’s Three Lions, having already appeared for England at the youth level.

The versatile forward emphasized his adaptability on the field, describing himself as capable of playing in various positions. “I can play on both feet, either wing, attacking midfield, or up front,” he said.

George credited prominent players Neymar and Jadon Sancho as his key inspirations, highlighting their influence on his approach to the game. Reflecting on his club experience, he noted the competitive environment at Chelsea, where he participated in major tournaments, including the Champions League, Conference League, and Club World Cup.

His experience with the England youth setup has been extensive, as he has progressed through age groups from Under-15 to Under-21. “I started playing for England since under 15s all the way to now under 21s,” he explained.

Beyond football, George revealed his interests outside the sport, stating, “Away from football, I like to watch movies and spend time with my family.”
