Galatasaray’s Osimhen Targets Liverpool Avoidance in Champions League Draw
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has expressed a desire for his team to steer clear of Liverpool in the upcoming Champions League knockout stage. Osimhen’s comments came after he led Galatasaray to a decisive victory over Juventus in the Round of 16 playoff second leg on Wednesday night.
Earlier this season, Galatasaray defeated Liverpool during the group stage of the tournament. However, Osimhen anticipates that Liverpool will seek to exact revenge when they meet again.
“We know that facing Liverpool now would feel like some sort of revenge,” Osimhen said following the match against Juventus. “Anyone we meet now… I wouldn’t say much, but I would like to escape Liverpool.”
As Galatasaray prepares for the next round, they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur. If matched against Liverpool, Osimhen acknowledged the challenge ahead.
“But if they come, yeah, we are going to dig it out, but it’s not going to be easy,” he added.
