UCL: UEFA suspends Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni after Vinicius racism claim

Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni Faces One-Match Suspension Amid Racism Allegations

UEFA has issued a provisional one-match suspension for Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni following an incident during last week’s Champions League Round of 16 playoff against Real Madrid.

The suspension stems from allegations made by Real Madrid forward Vinicius regarding racial abuse during the match held in Portugal. Consequently, Prestianni will miss the return leg of the playoffs at Real Madrid this week as UEFA continues its investigation into the claims against the Argentine player.

A disciplinary inspector from UEFA’s Ethics and Disciplinary Commission enacted the suspension under Article 14, which addresses discriminatory behavior.

In the first leg, Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory, with Vinicius scoring the decisive goal.
