Update: Benue poly lecturer was shot dead by suspected armed robbers – Police

Police have confirmed the killing of Mr Adah Echobu Chris, a senior lecturer with the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo. 

LIB had reported that the lecturer was traveling along the Eke and Ugbokolo expressway in Okpokwu Local Government Area when he was shot dead by gunmen on Sunday evening, December 5. 

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene said that the gunmen suspected to be armed robbers were operating on the highway when the lecturer drove to the scene.

“Yes, I just received the report. The deceased was on transit when he ran into the suspected robbers,” she stated.

“But unknown to him that the people were suspected robbers, he alighted from his car and walked towards them but the suspects felt he was daring them and they shot him. Nothing was removed from him.” she added.
