Former Kaduna Senator Critiques U.S. Legislative Response to Trump

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in Nigeria, expressed concern over the perceived ineffectiveness of the United States Senate and Congress in influencing President Donald Trump’s decisions. His remarks were shared on his verified social media account on Sunday, amid escalating tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran.

Sani’s comments follow an incident that began on February 28 when U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeted Iran, resulting in the deaths of top Iranian officials, including the Supreme Leader.

In his statement, Sani suggested that both legislative bodies have been sidelined by the President when their approval is necessary. “They appeared powerless, and now resorted to social media to express their outrage and anger,” he wrote.

He further questioned the timing and efficacy of U.S. lawmakers in addressing global democratic issues: “When will the next team of those lawmakers visit the next third-world country and lecture them about democracy, the Constitution, rule of law and freedom?”
