Valentine: Aids Control Agency Urges Nigerians To Celebrate Love Safely, Responsibly

NACA Urges Responsible Love Ahead of Valentine’s Day
As Valentine’s Day approaches, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) is urging Nigerians to practice responsible expressions of love. The agency emphasizes the importance of taking proactive measures to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections as individuals celebrate the season.
While Valentine’s Day is often associated with affection and connection, NACA highlights the need to avoid behaviors that heighten the risk of HIV infection. The organization encourages citizens to prioritize their health and protect their partners through regular testing, safe sex practices, and responsible festivities.
Temitope Ilori, Director General of NACA, called on Nigerians to make informed decisions that contribute to their well-being and support national efforts to eliminate new HIV infections.
NACA remains dedicated to enhancing access to quality HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services throughout the country. Recently, the agency also announced plans for stronger collaboration with the private sector to improve HIV prevention efforts targeted at adolescents and young adults.
During a Public-Private Partnership Engagement Workshop held on October 24, 2025, Ilori underscored the necessity for innovative and sustainable solutions to address the HIV crisis, particularly among Nigeria’s youth.
