Warner’s grim T20 form hits new low

Australian superstar David Warner‘s disappointing T20 form has continued in Australia’s warm-up against India tonight.

Warner faced just seven balls before going LBW to a Ravi Ashwin delivery, with his attempt at a reverse sweep not going to plan.

Just two days earlier during a T20 World Cup warm-up against New Zealand, Warner fell for a first-ball duck.

South African cricket legend Dale Steyn said he believes Warner is struggling to find his confidence.

“Warner, I can just see by his body language as he walks off, he’s lacking a lot of that confidence he has in himself at the moment,” Steyn said in commentary after Warner’s dismissal.

The 34-year-old’s form in the 20-over format has been under the microscope recently after he was axed as skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

When the 2021 IPL season resumed last month following a COVID-19 hiatus, Warner, who was no longer the captain after being replaced by Kane Williamson earlier, was dropped from the team after just two innings.

Warner never featured again for the Sunrisers following scores of 0 and 2 in Hyderabad’s first two games back after the hiatus.
