We will revoke the Certificate of Occupancy of any corporation or store that rejects old Naira notes from members of the public - Gov Abiodun warns

Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said that the state government will revoke the Certificate of Occupancy CoO of any corporation or store in the state that rejects the old Naira notes from residents of the state.

Recall that many businesses have refused to collect the old N500 and N1000 notes after the CBN and President Buhari declared that they are no longer legal tenders. This has caused crisis in many parts of the country as many people have been left stranded due to inability access the new notes.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, Gov Abiodun wrote

‘’The Ogun State Government will be revoking the Certificate of Occupancy, CofO of any corporation or store that rejects old Naira notes from members of the public in the State in exchange for goods and services.

Commercial outlets are hereby reminded that there is an existing court order by the Supreme Court, the apex court in Nigeria, directing that old notes remain legal tender.”
