What Eberechi Eze asked me about Super Eagles – Osayi-Samuel

Super Eagles’ Bright Osayi-Samuel Shares Insights on Nigeria with Eberechi Eze

Bright Osayi-Samuel, a key player for Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, recently discussed his conversation with Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze regarding life within the national team during the last Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Osayi-Samuel, who played a significant role in Nigeria’s bronze medal-winning campaign, revealed that Eze reached out to inquire about the team’s environment. Speaking to OmaSportsTV, he highlighted the importance of Eze’s curiosity, which underscored the midfielder’s genuine interest in the Nigerian squad.

“Eze, one of my close friends since our youth, called me and asked about the camp,” Osayi-Samuel said. “His question came out of the blue and really showed his interest in what’s going on in Nigeria.”

He noted the palpable enthusiasm surrounding Nigerian football, as evidenced by its presence on social media.

Eze, who was previously considered by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for international representation, ultimately opted to commit to England. Despite efforts by NFF officials to recruit him, he proceeded to meet with former NFF president Amaju Pinnick before making his decision.

While Osayi-Samuel respects Eze’s choice to represent England, he expressed a preference for the player to have chosen Nigeria. “If I had the chance to advise him again, I would still tell him to pick the Super Eagles,” he stated. “Of course, he picked England, but I would say Nigeria comes first.”

Eberechi Eze has since made 16 appearances for the England national team, scoring three goals.
