Y'all are lucky that I have too much to lose now – Burna Boy to critics

Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has responded to backlash over a recent viral clip showing him walking on stage—a walk that some social media users labelled as “feminine.”

The Grammy-winning artist addressed the criticism in a post on his Instagram story on Christmas Eve.

He wrote, “When they talk nobody cares, but when I react it’s a Nuclear disaster. Y’all don’t know how lucky you are that I have too much to lose now, Walahi a lot of you would not be here no more. Anyway make I just go buy another thing relax.”

The post quickly sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans defending him and others questioning his response.

One supporter expressed concern over the constant trolling the artist faces, saying, “It’s so sad how people constantly criticise Burna Boy, throwing hurtful words at him and laughing like it’s a joke. But the moment he reacts, he’s labelled an oppressor. People forget he’s human too, with feelings that can be hurt. Let’s do better as fans and as a society. Supporting our own doesn’t mean tearing them down.”

“People will keep using jokes to hurt people. Everything for them is cruise, but they are hurting people in the process. And if these people they hurt complain, they are still called names,” said another supporter.

Others questioned his post, with one commenter writing, “A lot of us would not be here no more how? You wan akpi us abi you wan kpai us?” Another added, “Na celebrity you be, you no be God.”

“I used to think this one was a musical freedom fighter— man is more interested in his pockets,” said another critic.
