Yobe State House Forms Committee to Investigate Healthcare Complaints

The Yobe State House of Assembly has established an ad-hoc committee to address allegations of misconduct by healthcare practitioners in the region. The committee’s task includes examining potential shortages of qualified medical doctors in various health facilities.

During a plenary session following the House’s annual recess, Speaker Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio announced the formation of the committee. Deputy Speaker Ya’u Usman Dachia will chair the panel, which includes members Ahmed Musa Dumbol, Kachalla Ajiya Maina, Sanda Kara Bade, Saminu Musa Lawan, and Mohammed Ali.

Mashio emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation, stating, “Despite the significant achievements recorded in the health sector under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, the complaints raised by members of the public require thorough investigation to ensure appropriate solutions are implemented.”

In related developments, the House has moved swiftly on a proposed bill to establish the Yobe State Senior Secondary Education Board. The executive arm of government presented the bill, which has successfully passed its second reading and has been referred to the House Standing Committee on Basic and Secondary Education for further consideration.

Additionally, the House has received two executive bills aimed at creating a State Waqf Board and an Urban and Regional Planning Authority.
