Let’s be honest,Lagos is the only state in Nigeria that’s accommodated the Ibos outside their state. Ibos should understand that the kind of acceptance they have in Lagos state doesn’t happen in the North,SouthEast or South/South. Many places have been dedicated to the Ibos over a long period of time in Lagos State. Ibos dominate Ladipo market,Computer village,Balogun market,Orile market,Alaba international market,Apapa,trade fair etc. FESTAC,Okota,Cele etc are dominated by Ibos. Tell me,tell me another state in Nigeria that’s given Ibos this opportunity. In Tinubu’s cabinet as a Governor, he involved Ibos in his Government,Ibos were involved in Fashola,Ambode and Sonwo-Olu’s Government. Tell me a Governor in the SouthEast that’s really involved a Yoruba person in his Government. But instead of you Ibos to appreciate this acceptance of love by Lagos State Government what you do is to call them agbero. And just in case you didn’t know,I will choose agbero over unknown gun men,I will choose agbero over ESN. I will choose agbero over every Monday curfew.
And to even ask,what does the term agbero mean? Agbero typically means,boys in the motor park that bring in passengers. But agbero now has a blanket meaning to mean a thug. And this is the question,is there a state that doesn’t have its own agbero. Have you witnessed a cult fight in the South South before ? Have you seen agbero fight in Ibadan ? I have been in Ibadan for 7yrs and I can tell you that Ibadan has more agbero than Lagos state.
This is my point,let the Yorubas rule the Yorubas,let the Ibos rule the Ibos and let Hausas rule the Hausas. Let’s avoid unnecessary friction,let’s avoid ethics friction.
Lastly,as it’s been contextually afore stated,Ibos enjoy there biggest acceptance in Lagos and as such,they should show gratitude instead of resentment. A visitor should know it’s boundary.
