Boko Haram Suspected in Deadly Attack on Adamawa Village
GOMBI, Adamawa State — Eleven individuals were killed on Monday during an early morning assault by suspected Boko Haram militants on Zaranga village in the Gombi Local Government Area.
According to initial reports, the attackers invaded the community while residents were still asleep, firing indiscriminately and setting homes ablaze. The violence has prompted many locals to flee into nearby bushes and forests in search of safety.
A resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, described the chaotic scene as the militants descended upon the village. “Boko Haram invaded in the early hours, shooting and burning houses,” he said.
As of Monday afternoon, search teams and security personnel were scouring the surrounding areas for additional victims. “So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, but many people are still missing,” the resident added.
Another individual from the village confirmed that his wife and two other family members were among those who lost their lives in the attack. “My wife and two of my family members were killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said in a somber statement.
The incident has intensified concerns regarding the security situation in Adamawa State, particularly in communities that have been vulnerable to terrorist activities. Authorities have yet to provide additional details regarding security measures in response to the ongoing threat.
