NACCIMA to Host Third Business and Investment Forum in Guangzhou, China

By Yinka Kolawole

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has announced plans for the third edition of its Business and Investment Forum in Guangzhou, China. This initiative aims to attract sustainable foreign direct investment (FDI) and bolster the Federal Government’s goal of establishing a $1 trillion economy by the year 2030.

Scheduled to coincide with the 140th Canton Fair—one of the world’s largest trade exhibitions—the forum seeks to connect Nigerian stakeholders with prominent Chinese investors, manufacturers, and business executives across key sectors.

Mrs. Madinat Adigun-Oladotun, NACCIMA’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the forum aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She noted that the initiative aims to position Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment, manufacturing, and industrial development.

“Nigeria must transition from a consumption-driven economy to one focused on value addition, local manufacturing, and industrial growth,” Adigun-Oladotun said. She underscored Nigeria’s potential, citing its population size, abundant natural resources, entrepreneurial spirit, and strategic geographic location as key factors that could make it the gateway to the African market. To transform into an economic powerhouse, she advocates for increased investment, improved infrastructure, accessible financing, advanced technology, and stronger international partnerships.

NACCIMA established the Guangzhou Business and Investment Forum to foster long-term collaborations with reputable Chinese investors who are interested in supporting Nigeria’s industrial transformation.

The previous two editions of the forum facilitated strengthened ties with the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) in Guangzhou, aided by the support of Nigeria’s Consul General in Guangzhou, Ambassador Mairo Musa Abbas. This partnership has opened investment opportunities in various sectors, including automobile and electric vehicle manufacturing, agribusiness, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and industrial park development.

Adigun-Oladotun called upon federal, state, and local governments, along with private sector stakeholders, to engage in this trade mission. She highlighted the importance of attracting quality investments, promoting technology transfer, enhancing local manufacturing, and generating sustainable jobs.

She described Guangzhou as a leading global manufacturing and commercial hub, urging Nigerian businesses to take advantage of the platform to forge strategic partnerships that could accelerate Nigeria’s industrialization and economic growth.
