As the final group matches of the 2026 World Cup approach, at least 12 teams have been eliminated from the tournament. The latest teams to be sent home are Iraq, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand.
In a decisive match, Senegal defeated Iraq 5-0, securing third place in Group I. Meanwhile, New Zealand faced a tough challenge against Belgium, suffering a 5-1 loss.
Uruguay’s elimination came after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain. Despite a 0-0 draw with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia is also among the teams exiting the tournament.
A total of 16 teams will ultimately miss the opportunity to progress to the knockout stage.
