Morocco has officially secured its spot in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, becoming the first team to do so. The Atlas Lions defeated co-hosts Canada 3-0 on Saturday evening.
The match remained scoreless at halftime, with the Canadian team, managed by Jesse Marsch, presenting significant challenges for Morocco. However, the tide turned in the second half when Azzedine Ounahi scored two goals, followed by a late strike from Soufiane Rahimi to solidify the victory.
Morocco joins Egypt as the only African nations to advance to the Round of 16. They will now prepare to face either France or Paraguay in the upcoming round.
