ABUJA — Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan held a private meeting with current President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Sunday.

Jonathan has remained publicly silent amid speculation regarding a potential return to politics and his interest in the 2027 presidential race. On May 30, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced that it had submitted Jonathan’s name and credentials as a candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, Jonathan’s name was notably absent from the list of 19 presidential candidates released by INEC on Saturday.
