2027: Ogun will deliver 95% of votes for Tinubu – Abiodun

Ogun Governor Promises Strong Support for Tinubu in 2027 Elections

Abeokuta, Ogun State — Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that Ogun State aims to deliver 95 percent of its votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The governor praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, asserting that they merit his reelection.

Abiodun made the commitment during a strategic meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara, Abeokuta. He emphasized that the reforms implemented by Tinubu have significantly improved the national economy and established a foundation for sustainable growth.

The governor also lauded the party members in Ogun State for conducting peaceful and transparent primary elections, distinguishing the state for its orderly process. He credited the success of the primaries to the unity, maturity, and discipline demonstrated by party members.

“Our primary election was inclusive, transparent, and fair, thanks to the commitment and mutual trust among our leaders,” Abiodun stated. He noted that such a process had not occurred in the state’s history, highlighting the collaboration among candidates, many of whom chose to step aside for the sake of party unity.

Regarding the selection of a running mate for the APC’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, Abiodun revealed that the party has agreed to zone the position to the Ogun East Senatorial District, specifically the Ijebu area, given that the gubernatorial candidate hails from Ogun West.

“We recognize the need to initiate political activities, with the Deputy Governor’s position being the key role to fill,” he continued, adding that consultations with party leaders led to the decision to position the candidate from Ogun East.

Abiodun congratulated the Ogun West Senatorial District for securing the governorship candidate position, noting this achievement marks the first such event in over 50 years since the state’s formation. He characterized this development as a significant milestone for the region and a testament to the APC’s commitment to fairness and equitable power-sharing.

In an effort to enhance security, Abiodun stated that his administration will implement technology-driven solutions to combat banditry and kidnappings, ensuring a robust security framework for protecting lives and property.

He also acknowledged the investments made in infrastructure development, asserting that the focus will now shift toward human capital development and social investment programs designed to alleviate economic challenges faced by residents.

Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of Ogun State’s citizens and ensuring that the benefits of democracy are felt across all sectors.

In a welcoming address, APC State Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi commended party members for their conduct during the primaries, noting that the meeting was convened to strategize for victory in the upcoming elections.
