2027: Peter Obi meets British govt officials

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), announced that he conducted meetings with British government officials and members of the Nigerian diaspora during his recent visit to London.
In a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, Obi highlighted that the discussions centered on strategies for rebuilding Nigeria and tackling pressing issues such as poor leadership, corruption, and a lack of accountability—factors he identified as significant barriers to the nation’s development.
Obi arrived in London from Basel, Switzerland, at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, where he engaged with various stakeholders in the United Kingdom. He concluded his day with a meeting organized by the Chief of COPDEM and the NDC Director of Diaspora Affairs, which brought together a variety of participants from the diaspora community.
During these meetings, Obi emphasized the shared responsibility of Nigerians in addressing the challenges facing the country and fostering national progress. He expressed concern that ineffective leadership has deprived millions of Nigerians of essential services, including quality healthcare, education, and employment opportunities.
“The time has come for us to build a Nigeria where every life matters, and where hard work is rewarded,” Obi stated. He advocated for a society where individuals can succeed based on merit rather than connections, asserting the need for Nigeria to work for all citizens, not just a privileged few.
