2027: ‘Tinubu can’t campaign, govs’ll cash out votes through all means’ – Sam Amadi

Director of Abuja School Comments on Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Strategy

Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, asserted that President Bola Tinubu is unlikely to engage in an extensive campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing concerns over the stress associated with such efforts.

Amadi’s remarks came in response to Tinubu’s recent statement indicating he would not visit every state to campaign, prioritizing his governance responsibilities instead. During the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, Tinubu remarked, “You will excuse me from going everywhere with you. However, I will still make room to talk to Nigerians directly. The responsibility of this office does not pause, and we have bills to pay.”

In his response, Amadi suggested that Tinubu would depend on state governors to facilitate voter mobilization through various strategies. He urged those governors to conduct their campaign activities in a manner that allows opposition parties to operate freely.

In a post on X, Amadi stated, “Tinubu is very honest here, he will not campaign because he cannot face the stress of the campaign. He will allow the governors to cash out the votes through all means. I just ask the governors to go about this proxy work in peace and allow the opposition to campaign freely and let the people decide for themselves whether to return Tinubu to power despite not being able to campaign.”

Amadi expressed concern about the current state of Nigerian democracy, warning against further damage due to fears of military intervention. He emphasized the need for a stable democratic process, noting the ongoing challenges faced by countries in the region. “We are vulnerable. Consider what is going around our West Africa. We need democracy to survive,” he added.
