46 Suspected Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Ogun State
Ogun State, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Immigration Service, apprehended 46 suspected illegal immigrants in a coordinated operation last weekend.
According to a statement from Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade, Idereghi Samuel Akari, the arrests were made on June 11, 2026, following actionable intelligence. The operation targeted locations in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and surrounding areas.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had resided in Ogun State for approximately six months without valid immigration documentation. During questioning, many reported their involvement in trade and claimed affiliation with QNet, an online marketing platform.
Of the arrested individuals, 18 are from Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, 4 from Togo, and 1 from Senegal. The group consists of 36 males and 10 females.
The suspects have been transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and appropriate administrative action in accordance with existing laws.
