Troops detonate roadside bomb in Borno

Borno State Troops Safely Detonate Explosive Device

Mairari, Borno State — Troops engaged in Operation Hadin Kai successfully discovered and detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on April 17, in Mairari town along the Gajiram axis.

The device was detected around 9 a.m. by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and route-scanning unit that had been deployed from a nearby Forward Operating Base. The IED was located at the edge of the town’s exit gate, prompting concerns about potential risks to both civilians and security personnel using that route.

Following safety protocols, the EOD team conducted a controlled detonation of the device without incident. A subsequent search of the area ensured that no additional explosives were present. Preliminary assessments suggest the IED may have been planted by insurgents prior to the arrival of troops.

Despite the successful operation, sources indicated that the overall security situation in the region remains calm but unpredictable. Ongoing military operations are focused on protecting communities and securing key access routes.
