A video has surfaced showing members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) reportedly burying approximately 30 of their comrades following recent airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian military in northern Borno State.
The footage, shared on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, captures the aftermath of the military operations. On Wednesday, DAILY POST reported that airstrikes had neutralized about 30 insurgents in the Lake Chad area.
According to Makama, who cited security sources, the burial rites took place in the Mallam Fatori area following a series of targeted air missions executed by the Nigerian military as part of Operation HADIN KAI. The airstrikes were reportedly carried out based on intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) reports that confirmed the movements of ISWAP fighters along waterways near Kaniram Island.
