BREAKING: DSS arraigns El-Rufai for ‘intercepting’ NSA Ribadu’s phone conversation

The Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday for allegedly accessing the phone conversations of Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser.

El-Rufai faces a five-count amended charge in the Abuja Federal High Court, following a change from an initial three-count indictment, according to court officials. During proceedings, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the presiding judge, dismissed the previous counts.

El-Rufai entered a plea of not guilty to the updated charges.

In a related statement made in February during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, the former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister claimed that an individual had wiretapped Ribadu’s phone, enabling him to overhear instructions to security operatives regarding an arrest order.
