Lagos Task Force denies deploying officers to arrest motorists

Lagos State Task Force Denies Reports of Traffic Enforcement Near Sheraton Link Bridge

The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed claims that its officers are stationed near the Sheraton Link Bridge and along Toyin Street to arrest motorists making turns.

The allegations, which originated from an anonymous source, advised drivers to avoid turning at these locations, suggesting that Task Force officials were allegedly waiting to apprehend violators.

In response, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, called the report inaccurate and misleading. He clarified that the Task Force has ceased traffic enforcement activities as per a directive from Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani on April 1, 2026.

Abdulraheem stated that the agency’s focus has shifted to environmental enforcement and the apprehension of suspected criminals, rather than traffic violations.

He urged the public to ignore the erroneous claims and reaffirmed the Task Force’s commitment to lawful operations aimed at reducing criminal activities throughout the state. Additionally, he cautioned against impersonation and warned that individuals conducting unauthorized enforcement actions would face arrest and prosecution.
