Don’t destroy communities with ambition – Abia traditional rulers appeal to politicians

Traditional Rulers Urge Respect for Power Rotation Agreement in Abia State

Umuahia, Abia State — Traditional leaders from the Ohuhu clan in Umuahia North Local Government Area have called on politicians from Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South LGAs to adhere to the power rotation agreement within the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency.

The appeal, voiced on Friday by Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Ekeoba Kingdom, aims to mitigate potential tension and violence in the region. He urged political figures from Ibeku, Ikwuano, and Umuahia South to prioritize communal harmony by allowing the Ohuhu clan to fulfill its second term in the House of Representatives.

During a gathering at the palace of Eze Iheanyichukwu Abel Ezeigbo in the Uhabiri community, Eze Nwokenna cautioned against undermining the power-sharing arrangement established during former Governor Theodore Orji’s administration.

Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, another ruler from Ohuhu, emphasized the importance of honoring agreements to prevent violence. “Let the world hear our voice. We don’t want killings; we don’t want political problems,” he stated.

Eze Ezeigbo, who welcomed fellow monarchs from Ohuhu and other clans, reaffirmed their commitment to peace. He stressed that their communities would not become battlegrounds due to political ambitions.

“Ibeku and Ohuhu are one. None of us should die in the course of politics. We want peace to reign,” Eze Ezeigbo appealed.
