Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Civilian in Kwara State Operation
KAIAMA, Kwara State — Troops from the Nigerian Army successfully rescued a kidnapped civilian during a joint operation in the Kaiama Local Government Area on April 30, according to a post shared on social media by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The operation commenced around 10:20 a.m. following intelligence reports indicating that an individual had been abducted from Vera village, located within the Tunga Maje forest region. Soldiers from the 244 Battalion collaborated with local vigilantes and forest guards to conduct a patrol aimed at locating the kidnappers.
During the mission, the security team made contact with the suspects, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire. The operation culminated in the successful rescue of the victim, while two motorcycles believed to have been used by the kidnappers were recovered.
One vigilante sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter and was promptly evacuated for medical treatment.
Sources within the security sector reported that follow-up operations are underway in the area to locate the fleeing suspects and to mitigate the potential for further attacks.
