Remo Stars Set Unwanted Record Following Relegation from NPFL
Remo Stars have made history in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by becoming the first club to win the title and subsequently be relegated in the following season.
The Sky Blue Stars confirmed their relegation after a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance on the final day of the 2025/26 season. The match took place at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday.
Finishing the season in 17th place, Remo Stars accumulated 47 points from 38 matches. In addition to Remo Stars, other clubs relegated from the NPFL include El-Kanemi Warriors, Bayelsa United, and Wikki Tourists.
Next season, Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United, and Ranchers Bees will replace the teams that have been relegated.
