Osun: Police launch manhunt for hit and run driver

OSUN STATE POLICE SEEK DRIVER IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT

The Osun State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the deaths of two police officers. The accident occurred on Wednesday along the Osogbo/Gbongan Road in the Oogi community.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi reported that the officers, identified only as Kehinde and Tobi, were riding a motorcycle when they were struck by a Lexus vehicle.

According to Ojelabi, the driver fled the scene immediately, leaving the vehicle behind. “The two police operatives were traveling on a motorcycle when they were hit,” he stated. “We have recovered both the Lexus car and the motorcycle and have taken them into custody for further investigation.”

The police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident and are actively tracking the driver. Ojelabi confirmed that one of the deceased officers has already been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the driver as part of a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
