NIGERIA—Music artist Ice Prince has responded to criticism regarding his performance at the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, where he faced backlash amid rising insecurity and economic challenges in the country.
Critics contended that the artist should have used his platform to advocate for accountability from the current administration rather than perform at what they deemed a partisan event.
In a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince clarified his reasons for participating in the APC convention. He stated that he was booked for the event by a family member, Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the APC.
“He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle,” Ice Prince explained regarding his connection to Yilwatda.
