Keffi, Nasarawa State – The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities during an operation in Keffi Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Shafiu Abdul-Rauf and Usman Abdulmumuni, were taken into custody following a report of theft and unlawful entry at the Keffi Divisional Police Headquarters. The incident, which occurred on May 30, 2026, involved a resident of Kofar Hausa, who claimed that Abdul-Rauf had broken into his home and stolen an Android phone.

In a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel, it was reported that detectives initiated an intelligence-driven operation that ultimately led to the arrest of both suspects, who reside in the Mayanka area of Keffi.

A subsequent search yielded several items, including a locally made pistol with a live cartridge, two sharp cutlasses, a knife, three mobile phones, a set of keys, and other materials believed to be associated with criminal activities. The recovered mobile devices include two Tecno Android phones and one Itel phone.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigators explore their potential connection to other criminal offenses within and outside the region. Nansel emphasized that the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised the quick action and professionalism of the officers involved.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state and urged citizens to continue providing credible information to law enforcement. He underscored the importance of community cooperation in the ongoing fight against crime in Nasarawa State.

Investigations are ongoing, and further legal action is anticipated upon their completion, according to Nansel.
