Jigawa Police Foil Kidnapping Plot, Arrest Two Suspects
JIGAWA, Nigeria – The Jigawa State Police Command announced the foiling of a suspected kidnapping plot and the arrest of two individuals involved in a criminal conspiracy.
Police spokesman SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam issued a statement on Sunday confirming the arrests, which occurred before the planned abduction could take place.
On May 23, 2026, officers detained Adamu Gari, 55, of Zabo Kafi Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40, from Fatiske Village in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, along with other members of their alleged syndicate, intended to kidnap two individuals from Jama’are town in Bauchi State. They were apprehended in their hometowns prior to executing the plan, effectively preventing the crime.
The police stated that both suspects are currently cooperating with investigators, providing relevant information to help identify and apprehend additional members of the criminal network.
The Jigawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to continue supporting law enforcement by sharing credible and timely information.
Investigations are ongoing, and police efforts are intensifying to locate other suspects associated with the conspiracy.
