Lagos Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists in Ajanmgbadi Operation
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four individuals suspected of cult-related activities and recovered firearms during an operation in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government.
The arrests were announced in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi on June 2, 2026. Those apprehended include Emmanuel Nwokolo, known as Oblo; Ayola Israel, referred to as Essy Pawpaw; Ebuka Nnamdi; and Chinedu Okafor. They were detained at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi based on intelligence gathered by the police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are linked to violent crimes in Ajanmgbadi and surrounding areas. During the inquiry, police recovered a video from one suspect’s mobile phone that reportedly depicts a murder.
According to the police, the suspects have admitted to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and have been implicated in a series of violent incidents that have affected local residents.
“During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being part of the notorious Aiye Confraternity and acknowledged their involvement in terrorizing the community through killings and other violent acts,” the statement indicated.
Police investigations also led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver, and 13 live cartridges, believed to be used in their criminal activities.
The command emphasized that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to identify additional members of the group. The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation.
