Rescue of 360 Abductees: Military can do more with better funding — Rep Agbese

Military Personnel Deserve Greater Support, Lawmaker Says
The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, emphasized the need for increased national support for military personnel operating in challenging terrains, particularly in the North-East and other regions of Nigeria.
Agbese’s comments followed the recent rescue of 360 abductees by troops of Operation Hadin Kai from the Mandara Mountains, a known insurgent stronghold in southern Borno State.
Expressing hope for continued success, Agbese urged for sustained support, enhanced funding, and continued collaboration among security agencies in the ongoing campaign against insurgents and other criminal elements threatening the country’s peace and stability.
The Labour Party lawmaker, who represents the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, praised the operation as a demonstration of the resilience and commitment of Nigeria’s Armed Forces in their fight against terrorism.
In a statement released to journalists on Tuesday, Agbese remarked that the rescue operation illustrates the determination of the nation’s security forces to restore peace, despite the numerous challenges they face.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria have shown exceptional courage and professionalism under very difficult circumstances,” Agbese said. “Despite financial constraints and operational hurdles, our troops remain dedicated to protecting the nation and its citizens.”
He called the recent rescue of 360 abductees one of the most significant achievements in recent operations, highlighting the dedication of military personnel and the effectiveness of counter-insurgency efforts.
Agbese noted that the fight against insurgency reflects the collective efforts of the Federal Government, military leadership, and various security agencies working towards a unified goal.
He also urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces through cooperation, information sharing, and encouragement, stressing that national security is a collective responsibility. The lawmaker remarked that the successful rescue operation should serve as a beacon of hope for affected communities, reaffirming the commitment of security forces to safeguard all Nigerians from terrorists and criminals.
