Protests Erupt in Lagos Over Governance Issues
LAGOS, Nigeria — Prominent human rights attorney Femi Falana and his son, Nigerian musician Folarin Falana, known as Falz, took part in a protest in Lagos on Friday morning, demonstrating against poor governance in the state.
According to reports, demonstrators convened at the Ikeja Underbridge area to voice their concerns over escalating economic difficulties and a deepening security crisis affecting the nation.
The participants held placards calling for immediate action to address the worsening security situation, citing that the consequences of ineffective policies have led to loss of life on a daily basis.
Slogans on the placards included “No Democracy Without Security,” “End Insecurity and Kidnapping,” “End Bad Governance,” and “Free All Abducted Children, Teachers, Farmers,” among others.
In response to the public outcry, President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation, assuring citizens that efforts would be made to end the current security challenges.
The president, who is running for reelection in 2027, expressed confidence that Nigeria would prevail in its fight against insecurity.
