June 12: You’re overwhelmed, Nigeria not Lagos – Dino Melaye hits Tinubu

Dino Melaye Critiques President Tinubu’s Leadership

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has expressed strong criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, declaring that the president is overwhelmed and unfit to lead Nigeria.

Melaye made these remarks during a colloquium in Abuja honoring the late Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications. He specifically cited Tinubu’s recent Democracy Day speech as lacking recognition of the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.

“The president is wearing an oversized shoe,” Melaye stated, emphasizing that Nigeria’s complexities extend far beyond the governance of Lagos, where Tinubu previously held influence.

He further noted, “Any leader of this country who has failed in security and welfare is a failed president.” Melaye pointed to recent security issues, including the abduction and killing of three serving generals, as evidence of the current state of insecurity. He contrasted this with the intense search operations for a missing pilot in the United States.

“Generals are being killed—what does that say about our state of security?” Melaye asked, clarifying he is not advocating for government ransom payments but is urging the administration to demonstrate its capability to ensure safety.

He concluded by calling for accountability, asserting, “When you cannot deliver, you should resign honorably and leave.”
