Prominent sports journalist Oma Akatugba has disclosed that Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye once rejected the advances of a Nigerian billionaire heiress during his tenure with Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Akatugba recounted the incident, stating that he was visiting Okoye when he noticed a message from the daughter of the billionaire on the goalkeeper’s phone. He attempted to encourage Okoye to consider the heiress, highlighting her affluent background, but Okoye expressed that she did not meet his personal standards.

On his X social media account, Akatugba wrote, “One day while I was at Maduka’s place in Holland, he showed me his phone, which had a message from the daughter of a Nigerian billionaire. I exclaimed, ‘Bro, this one’s a big catch!’ He chuckled and replied, ‘Yeah, but she’s not really in my league beauty-wise.’”

Since making his debut for the Super Eagles in 2019, Okoye has garnered significant attention, with many Nigerians publicly expressing their admiration for his looks and athletic build.

In response to the growing attention, Okoye confirmed that he is in a relationship, stating that he has a girlfriend. He is in a long-term partnership with Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff, and the couple shares a son, Isaiah Emil Okoye.
