BREAKING: Ex-Kebbi APC Chairman, Besse dies in bandits’ captivity

Former Kebbi APC Chairman Confirmed Dead in Bandit Capture

Alhaji Muhammadu Besse, the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, has reportedly died while in the custody of bandits.

Besse was abducted in early June, according to sources. The news of his death was confirmed Tuesday in a post on social media platform X by journalist Bakatsine, who covers conflicts and security issues in Nigeria’s North-West region.

Earlier, footage had circulated showing Besse and an associate being subjected to humiliation by their captors in the Birnin Gwari forest. Bakatsine stated, “Alhaji Muhammadu Mai Barga Besse, the immediate former APC chairman of Koko/Besse LGA in Kebbi State, has now also been confirmed dead in captivity.”

The report revealed that both men featured in the released videos had lost their lives without the possibility of reuniting with their families after their abduction. “What began as disturbing footage has ended in tragedy. Two lives lost, two families shattered, raising further questions about the ongoing security crisis in northern Nigeria,” Bakatsine added.

He concluded with a prayer for the deceased and their families, asking for divine mercy and comfort.
