Sokoto High Court Sentences Three to Death for Terrorism
SOKOTO, Nigeria — A High Court in Sokoto State has sentenced three men, including a foreign national, to death by hanging after convicting them of terrorism and arms proliferation.
The defendants—Yusuf Muhammad, a Nigerien also known as Sallau; Jabbi Alhaji Yalle; and Kabiru Muhammad—were apprehended on June 13, 2025. Their arrests were made by the Department of State Services (DSS) Counter Terrorism Unit, which linked them to cross-border criminal activities related to arms trafficking and terrorism.
The case, identified as SS/45c/2026, was overseen by Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello at High Court No. 23. During the proceedings, Justice Bello found all three defendants guilty of the charges and issued the death sentence.
In addition to the sentences, the court ordered that all monetary exhibits seized from the convicts be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Justice Bello noted that the conviction reflects the DSS’s ongoing efforts in combating terrorism and organized cross-border criminal networks throughout Nigeria.
