Edo Security Corps arrest two suspects who snatch motorcycles for kidnappers in Uromi

Edo Security Corps Arrests Suspects Linked to Motorcycle Theft for Kidnappings
Operatives of the Edo Security Corps (ESSC) have apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in a motorcycle theft operation that supports local kidnappers. The suspects, identified as Yusuf and Zubairu, were taken into custody in a forest area near Uromi, within the Esan North East Local Government area.
Deputy Commander Richard Balogun of the ESSC announced the arrests during a press conference in Benin City on Tuesday. He stated that the suspects are believed to be part of a network specializing in stealing motorcycles in the Edo Central senatorial district. According to Balogun, these stolen motorcycles are allegedly delivered to kidnappers, who use them to access towns for food purchases and to collect ransoms from victims’ families.
The arrest followed a tip-off that led security operatives to track the suspects. Balogun reported that the duo had previously stolen more than eight motorcycles intended for kidnappers in the area. They were apprehended just before they could transport another four stolen motorcycles to the kidnappers on the same day.
Balogun confirmed that the suspects have been handed over to police authorities for further investigation and appropriate action. He also announced enhanced foot and motorized patrols by the ESSC in the Edo Central senatorial districts to bolster security in the region.
